This is the cover box illustration for Fantasy Flight Games table top / board game expansion for Arkham Horror, named Dunwich Horror, which is based on the worlds of renowned horror master H.P. Lovecraft.
We got this request just before christmas, so I brought my laptop with me when I visited my parents so that I could workon on the piece. It was quite strange sitting in my little room again, hehe...

Michael Komark made the illustration for the previous Arkham Horror box, so we had some pretty damn big shoes to fill when making this one :-)

My girlfriend :iconkyena: made the conceptual sketch, so this is the first painting we’ve worked together on :-)

Painted during quite a few evenings using Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Reference used for the characters.

Painted december 2005.

Wow, so cool... But I didn't think this was for a software box? It's supposed to be for the expansion for the table top game. It might be they used the illustration on other things as well, please let me know once you find out :-)

this turned out really nice henning makes the watcher wondering whats going on - reminds me a bit of a scene described in one of my favorite books about cthulhu from "wolfgang hohlbein"
I especially like the stone in the background but I feel somewhat irritated by the flying creature to be honest, but thats just a personal thing =)
