From my biggest board-game project so far: 2nd edition of the popular board game; Descent - Journeys in the dark.

Over 70 tiles in the core game sure kept me busy for quite some time.

These are all beautiful!

I'd love to hear how you went about making them; painting with a grid over top, or do you use textures...?

Thanks! :)
Short version: It's kind of a mix where I'm doing a quick mock up render in 3D for perspective and some of the props. The perspective here is not realistic since all entrances has to have the same perspective straight from the top, so it's all forced to make sure it still somewhat fits together. Then it's re-worked a few times in 2D, props and details are being painted in during a couple of passes, etc. I do re-use quite a few props, and things like cobble stones, pebbles, grass textures, etc is all the same texture all over, just painted differently using layer masks and blending options for extra effects.
