Harma Dogshead by henning Harma Dogshead by henning
:icondonotplz::iconusemyartplz:

This is an illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named A Game of Thrones, which is based on the world of best-selling author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice & Fire.

The character is Harma Dogshead, she is a wildling, and a ferocious killer. She is called Dogshead because she hates dogs, and kills another one every fortnight and uses its head on a post as a banner.

Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here.

I like the way you did the fur on the dog, and around her neck. Looks really fuzzy.

What a creepy individual! Sounds like a cool character, though.

Hehe, she sounds cool yeah. According to what I've heard she also keeps a dead dog pearced on her spear while riding into battle, spraying blood everywhere, including herself, haha :-)

Another great digital painting!
Hand and nose are a little bit off... and well I had to read that she was a GIRL because its not so blatant in the painting... but I think you didn't concentrate your attention on these kind of details because you know they won't be so visible when printed on little cards ;)

I definitely love the fur, the animal's mouth and the metallic mails, very detailed and realistic!! :wow:

Thanks :-) Well, Harma is barely a woman, she is extremely big, ugly, totally crazy, and masculine, hehe. The first version she was thinner, and looked more like a woman, but George R.R. Martin himself commented back to me, wanting her to look more like this. Personally I liked the first version better, but this is more close to his description. She was great fun to paint, though :-)

Wow, that's brilliant (they all are). I especially like the way you've done the blood on the fur, the angle of the hand and the angle of the dog's muzzle. They all look exactly like the personality/description portrays them to be too.

It's a shame it'd be on a smaller scale and you'd lose a bit of detail, they're all wonderful.

Huh, you've been working a lot? Is excellent, you got the feeling that wanted to reflect on the character. Hey, I've been curious of something, do you like anime?

Alright I know several people thinks anime is just pretty and simple sketches of apes with really big shining eyes, but to dominate anime you gotta study it's anatomy and have several time of practice. I tell you because I grew up with a lot of anime and then I was interested about painting a more realistic art but as I just got the graphic tablet everything realistic I do sucks! Well, if you want don't pay me attention, I just say this. See your art later. By the way, i will visit your new website as soon as I can. Bye.

Yes, I know that you really, really need to master the anime style to pull it off good. And I have seen awesome anime many times, but it just don't appeal to me. A combo between anime and realsim is cool, where that opcious anime-look has been toned down :-)

OK, I get it, If you don't feel like drawing anime it's ok, everybody do what they want (please, don't think I'm making you do it), it was just a question because of curiousity (which I want to ask to your girlfriend =)). Well, I guess you got tired to answer my comments, so I'll leave it like that. Keep up the good work and I try to emphatize about how you doing lately, just REST! I think you need it. Bye.
