The cornered man by henning The cornered man by henning
:icondonotplz::iconusemyartplz:

This is an illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named Call of Cthulhu, which is based on the worlds of renowned horror master H.P. Lovecraft.
Painted March 2008 (wow, had to wait 1 year until I could show it).

I used a friend of mine as reference model for the brave fighter. Too bad it doesn't look too bright for him, hehe.

This painting is also displayed here, along with another card made by me, including me as "Howard Ludvinski": [link]

Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here.

hi Henning, how have you been? great image as usual, that character seems familiar. great mood and sense of impending doom. that knife got nothing on those tentacles.

Really nice art. Guy looks as though he's going to be eaten though. How unfortunate.

Very cool Henning. Have you read any of Lovecraft's books? The tale of unknown Kadath was my favorite. I also liked his short story "The Crypt". It gave me goose bumps.

Another wonderful illustration. Glad to see you got to work tentacles in the painting, even if they are just shadows.

Thanks :cowboy:
Yeah, I have all his stories, and I've read about half of them so far. Will continue once I have more spare time. He has a complex way of writing, hehe.

It is true. You rarely find quotation marks in any of his writings. That makes it a really unique form and it was hard to adjust to.

You and tentacles... is there cause for concern, or is it really all work related? :ninja:

He seems awfully relaxed for a man looking death in the eye.
