The tower of joy by henning The tower of joy by henning
:icondonotplz::iconusemyartplz:

This is an illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named A Game of Thrones, which is based on the world of best-selling author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice & Fire. This belongs to the A Time of Ravens Edition.

This is a location called "The tower of joy". First, I made the bottom version, until I got to know that the mountains were supposed to be red ( the red mountains of Dorne). I kept both versions just for fun :-)

Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here.

Hey, Henning. I'm glad you showed both versions. It's really interesting to see how much just a change in color can really alter mood, landscape, etc. Like 'em both!

I'm glad you kept the original version, although I do like the top one too. I think I like the bottom one a bit more because it has a greater contrast and gives a better feeling of distance. Or maybe I prefer it just because I've always liked rocky and cold looking landscapes :)

Regardless, great work man!

An instance where you're thankful for the hue/saturation tool, eh?

I think I like the cold weather version better.

Very nice, especially how the details "pop" without being "busy."

Nice shading on the tower, though I think the background works better in your original version.

Nice. I prefer the bottom version with the grey stone. They both look cold, and blasted by the wind, despite the warmer lighting in the top version.

I like them both. Keep the lower. You can always use it as Night's Watch tower... :)
